I had just come back from an overnight backpack up Jack's Augerpoint Trail; my third backpack there. I love the alpine and mountains there but the hike is a stiff ascent although this time I managed to cut off 30 minutes to reach the ridge and did it in 3.5 hours instead of 4. Most of the snow is gone but there are pools of water here and there. With the hot weather, it provides good breeding for mosquitoes. I planned to stay 3 days but shortened it to two as the mosquitoes drove me away. All I heard throughout the day was the constant whine of mosquitoes in my ear. Just lucky I was wearing my headnet but I had to wear my cycling jacket and rainpants otherwise they would bite through thin clothing and it was a HOT day so I sought shade near a snowpack. A 3/4 moon came up at night and lit up the area for 6 hours until it dipped below the mountains. I also saw a "blue-listed" ptarmigan again on the ridge overlooking Ruth Masters Lake. Anyways, here is one photo of the trip; the others are posted at the zenfolio site.
